This was likely a trial run of perhaps 100 copies prior to the initial first printing in rust boards; in addition, the black board copies lack the rust topstain. Very good with professional rebacking to spine and repair to top quarter inch. Tiny corner chip to pages 201-210, but no writing or other marks. In a very good plus dust jacket (price intact) with slight wear at the corners and a thin ink line across the original price at the bottom of the flap. A nice copy of one of the rarest Fowles "A" items.
